Coal and Gas Forum
Yesterday the Lock The Gate Alliance – a national alliance of community industry and environmental groups calling for tighter regulation of coal and gas mining industries in Australia - held an experts forum in Sydney. Third Degree's Simon Unwin went along. Among the speakers was Dr. Dick van Steenis, a retired GP who has tirelessly worked to hold both government and industry to account in pollution.

Community Wind Farm
To the windy New England region of NSW where the state’s first community-owned wind farm may be built. Simon Unwin speaks with Adam Blakester, co-ordinator of the project.

Rising Tide court case
In late September, thirty-nine members of Newcastle’s direct action climate protest group Rising Tide staged a spectacular action, shutting down Newcastle coal terminal for about ten hours. Port Waratah Coal Services sued activists for just over half a million dollars in damages under the Victims’ Compensation Act. Simon speaks with Carly Phillips of Rising Tide, who was at the Coal and Gas forum.
