West Papua Independence
As West Papua struggles for independence from Indonesia’s rule, State-sanctioned human rights abuses continue unabated by International pressure. Yesterday, Andreas Harsono from Human Rights Watch and Eko Waluyo from Indonesian Solidarity, attempted to bring more attention to the plight of West Papuans – lobbying Australian politicians at Parliament House in Canberra. Third Degree's Jessica Minshall spoke to them while they were at Parliament House.

Waste Dump Legislation creeps closer
Last Thursday the Federal Government’s National Radioactive Waste Management Act passed through the House of Representatives in Canberra. The act sets up the legal regime to force a nuclear waste dump on the highly contested site of Muckaty Station, near Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory. Third Degree's Simon Unwin spoke to Lauren Mellor, the Uranium Education Co-ordinator at the Beyond Nuclear Initiative in Alice Springs.
