Caroona Coal Blockade
Gunnedah plains and surrounding area is currently home to a large part of NSW agricultural sector. Mining companies however have seen past the fertile soils to the large coal deposits in the area. When Bhp-Billiton came to explore coal deposits on farming properties in the town of Caroona, local residents have gone about blockading the properties from exploration. Libby speaks to farmer and property owner Tim Duddy about potential coal exploration on his land and its effects on underground aquifers.

Just a reminder that this Wednesday, the 6th August is Hiroshima Day, marking the 63rd Anniversary since the bomb was dropped, 140,000 people in Hiroshima and 80,000 in Nagasaki were killed by the end of 1945 and many more afterwards as a result of the bombing. There are currently still over 37 000 nuclear weapons in the world.
