Broadcast 8 September 2011 on 2Ser radio 107.3 Sydney
Presented by James Hitchcock
Download here: Ep. 2011 - 33 Global Financial Crisis and a Green New Deal
When the financial crisis came in 2008 it was a shock to many, except one woman, Ann Pettifor, a fellow of the New Economics Foundation in London and director of PRIME economics. She is author of the books 'The Coming First World Debt Crisis', 'The Real World Economic Outlook' and 'A Green New Deal'. She argues that that it is re-regulation of the finance system and increased government spending, rather than cuts, is what is needed to deal with the financial crisis, as well as our climate and energy problems.
Ann Pettifor is on a two-week speaking tour of Australia hosted by the Search Foundation. Please visit their website for details of events.
